K-Rock Centre Cements Status as Top Canadian Venue
Kingston, ON – The SMG Canada managed K-Rock Centre has once again been recognized by Pollstar Magazine as one of Canada’s premier venues. The magazine has ranked the K-Rock Centre 1st in Canadian venues under 8,000 seats, for ticket sales through the third quarter of 2012.
“The first three quarters of 2012 have definitely produced some home runs for us,” says Ken Noakes, SMG Canada’s General Manager of the K-Rock Centre. “As I’ve said previously, the city of Kingston is proving to promoters that it is a market which they can bring their events and sell tickets. These accolades, and continued successes will only help bring more events to the venue in the future.”
With 51,805 tickets sold (excluding Frontenacs tickets) through the first three quarters of the year the K-Rock Centre surpassed both the General Motors Centre (Oshawa, Ontario), and the Mile One Centre (St. John ’s, New Foundland) as other Canadian venues listed in the top 200.
Sold out events included Cirque du Soleil – Dralion, Hedley, Billy Currington, Bryan Adams, Johnny Reid, and two performances of the Broadway musical Mamma Mia!
Hot on the heels of another sell-out with Neil Young and Crazy Horse, the K-Rock Centre heads into the final few months of the year with a stellar line-up including living legends ZZ Top (November 3rd), Theory of a Deadman/Big Wreck (November 22nd), Metric (November 23rd), Cesar Milan (November 28th), Martina McBride (December 6th), and Leonard Cohen (December 13th). “The way the calendar is shaping up for the last quarter of 2012, plus the announcements we’ve had for 2013, it’s definitely an exciting time for the venue, and the city of Kingston,” continued Noakes.
